Accounting Challenge - Bowl for Kids Sake

Bowl for Kids Sake is comprised of ‘challenges’ that create friendly competition among industries. One of their biggest challenges is Accounting. Currently they have the support of 6 firms. The winner of each challenge is determined by fundraising. The team(s) that raise the most money wins the challenge and receives a beautiful framed picture and plaque. The winning team will keep the picture for one year and if that team doesn't return to the event in 2020 or raise the most money, it moves on to team that does.

This is a FUN event with glow bowling, prizes and more. It’s a great way to celebrate the end of the busy tax season as well and to engage everyone in an event that benefits kids in the community. Find out how you can enter a team, or play individually, here!

Also, CPA NL has entered their own Team this year! So, if you are unable to participate but would still like to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Newfoundland you can donate directly to the CPA NL Team.

Why Your Help is Needed

All children deserve to fulfill their potential. Unfortunately, many don’t have the support and encouragement to get there. Enter Big Brothers Big Sisters! They connect youth with carefully screened mentors and support that result in friendships to ensure optimum outcomes like resilience, improved school achievement, confidence and the strength to make positive life choices.

Many of the youth in the programs are marginalized and live in circumstance (such as financial insecurity, violence in their homes or neighbourhoods, absent parent(s) or family illness) leaving them at risk for toxic stress. This has an adverse effect on the developing brain, emotional regulation, and day-to-day things like school behaviour, peer relationships and overall mental health.

But here’s the AMAZING thing! Mentoring is an intervention and strategy to help kids succeed! Something as simple as a consistent, positive relationship with someone who believes in you, promotes healthy development, creating a foundation for school achievement, economic productivity, and responsible citizenship.

Your support of Bowl for Kids Sake is an investment in the mentoring programs which benefits everyone, socially and economically.
