CPAs: Multiplying Kindness

CPA Newfoundland and Labrador will organize a food drive, toy drive, and a chance to spread kindness to the homeless in our community on December 17, 18 and 19. Between now and then we will collect items for donations at our office at 95 Bonaventure Avenue.

We challenge you, our members, to give back to your community and spread kindness this year with the help of CPA NL.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

  • Donate items or gift cards
  • Help with deliveries
  • Collect donations in your office
  • Organize your own drop-off

We will gladly pick-up items as well as accept them at our Christmas Cocktail Reception on December 6.

All donations will be delivered on the set day on behalf of the members of CPA NL.

Don't forget to let us know how you plan to help, send us pictures, and #CPAsxkindness on social media!  If you live out of the metro area we encourage you to find a way to help in your community!

For more information or to set-up a pick-up of donations please email Melissa at mbrown@cpanl.ca or call 709.753.3090 ext. 4.

Meal Monday: December 17 - We will make a donation to Bridges to Hope who provide healthy food hampers containing fresh fruit and vegetables, soups, stews, homemade bread, milk and other essential food items to families and individuals in our community.

Some of the things they are most in need of are: Canned items (beans, milk, meat and fruit), Mac n' Cheese, 1 litre juice, cereal, pasta sauce, and crackers.

Toys Tuesday: December 18 - We will make a donation to the VOCM Cares Happy Tree.  "Happy" has become a Christmas tradition. For more than 40 years, the VOCM Cares Foundation has been partnering with the Salvation Army and Avalon Mall to keep this tradition alive. This fundraiser helps to collect and distribute toys for children in need throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.

Toys for any ages that are new and unwrapped, or Wal-Mart gift cards, are gladly accepted. Please don't forget the older children!

Warmth Wednesday: December 19 - We will do up parcels for the homeless and hand them out to the homeless in downtown St. John's, and then to the Gathering Place. There are over a thousand people in St. John’s living on the streets or in hostile boarding houses. They’re struggling with any number of demons – hunger, abuse, mental illness, physical disabilities, and addiction. They’re barely surviving from day to day. For many of them, The Gathering Place is their only safe place to go.

We would be grateful for $10 Gift Cards (Tim Hortons, Coleman's, or Sobeys). New socks, mittens, hats, and underwear of all sizes.

We would also like to see members show up and lend a hand on this day.  We will meet in the office parking lot at 9:00am.
