Chief Executive Officer - Teachers' Pension Plan Corporation (TPPC)

Newfoundland and Labrador’s Teachers’ Pension Plan (TPP) is one of the largest public sector pension plans in the Province with assets of more than $3 billion. Administered by the newly established Teachers’ Pension Plan Corporation (TPPC), the TPP’s defined benefit pension plan provides pension coverage for approximately 5,900 active teachers and retirement benefits to 8,800 pensioners. Director of Internal Audit - Marine Atlantic

Marine Atlantic provides a vital ferry service between the provinces of Newfoundland and Labrador and Nova Scotia. With operations based in Port aux Basques and Argentia in Newfoundland and Labrador, and in North Sydney in Nova Scotia, the Federal Crown Corporation’s mission is to provide a safe, environmentally responsible, and quality ferry service in a reliable, courteous and cost-effective manner.

The Director of Internal Audit has a unique reporting structure within the Corporation, with a functional reporting line to the Audit and Risk Committee of the Board and an administrative reporting line to the CEO. The Director of Internal Audit is responsible for the Corporation’s internal audit function. Based in either Port aux Basques or North Sydney, the Director, in support of Marine Atlantic’s overall mission, will assist the Corporation in achieving its goals and objectives in a values driven manner by ensuring a systematic and disciplined risk based approach to audit, internal control and governance processes. The Director provides leadership to the internal audit function and ensures that it operates as an independent and objective assurance and consulting activity guided by a philosophy of adding value to improve Marine Atlantic operations. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Education (Finance), the Internal Auditor will provide independent and objective analysis, evaluation and verification on the effectiveness of the District’s system of internal controls.  The Internal Auditor will focus on the District ability to meet its strategic objectives through safeguarding of assets, compliance with policies and procedures and economical and efficient use of resources.  This will be accomplished through a systematic, disciplined approach to analyze and appraise the effectiveness of risk management and governance.
