Treasurer - The Alzheimer Society of Newfoundland and Labrador

The Alzheimer Society of Newfoundland and Labrador is seeking a volunteer Treasurer for it’s Board of Directors effective June 2020.  The Treasurer position includes the following roles and responsibilities:

  • Member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors
  • Chairperson of the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors
  • Monitors the finances of the Society to ensure compliance with acceptable accounting practices
  • Monitor the financial position to the Board of Directors at quarterly board meetings
  • Ensures the Chief Executive Officer in the development and implementation of the Annual Budget
  • Monitors the external auditor of the Society and presents the report to the membership during the Annual General Meeting

Board Member - The Canadian Lawyers Insurance Association (CLIA)

The Canadian Lawyers Insurance Association (CLIA) is a reciprocal insurance exchange providing professional liability insurance to lawyers in nine Canadian provinces with its headquarters in Regina, Saskatchewan. CLIA’s nominating committee is seeking candidates for one volunteer board position opening July 1, 2020. Candidates do not need to be lawyers but should have some of the skills identified in the Skills Matrix. Experience with financial, investment, actuarial and/or audit functions would be an especially valued asset. CLIA’s Board is a small and engaged group comprised of seven (7) people with varied experience, all of whom are committed to employing good governance principles. The Board meets in person in a central location (usually Toronto or Calgary) approximately six (6) times annually. The CLIA Board is reimbursed for economy travel, the cost of a hotel and other expenses but does not receive an honorarium.

Treasurer- Wonderbolt Productions

Wonderbolt Productions is a professional, highly skilled performing arts company with charitable status that primarily focuses on bringing a range of productions, workshops, and camps and clubs to all areas of Newfoundland and Labrador.  As we begin our 37th year, we are entering a new growth phase and are currently recruiting a Chartered Professional Accountant to join our Board of Directors.

What we do:

  • Create, develop and produce original circus and movement theatre and bring it to as wide an audience as possible;
  • Create and produce original theatre for young audiences;
  • Develop teaching programs in the physical arts and through workshops and educational activities to share and develop skills with the community at large and build on their creative talents;
  • Present an annual internationally recognized circus festival known for outstanding physical and creative programming;
  • Operate a physical arts studio and cultural community centre

Treasurer - Sport Newfoundland and Labrador

Sport Newfoundland and Labrador is the volunteer organization committed to the promotion and advancement of amateur sport throughout the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It represents the collective interests and goals of its members through:

  • The provision of various programs and services;
  • Liaising and lobbying with government, communities, media and other representative organizations, and;
  • The provision of direction and leadership on issues which affect its members.

The Sport Newfoundland and Labrador Annual General Meeting will take place on November 16, 2019 at which time an election of officers will take place with the position of Treasurer up for election.
